A small city on the northern coast of central Java, Pekalongan was known for the batik that could be worn by everybody without any restriction to caste. Located by the port, Pekalongan has an interesting mixture of Dutch, Chinese, Arab, Gujarati, and Javanese.
This batik probably has a dominant influence of Japanese, seen from the colors that it has; the vibrant yellow similar to Hokokai.
