We rarely have Japanese glass in our collection, but we just couldn't resist to miss this beauty because of its curves and its colour. This fruit stand was produced in the early Japanese glass production around 1920s, far from the production of other glass vase. This can be analyzed from its curves and surface details.
Satsuma Glass is Japan's first produced glass that adopted overlay cut glass technique from England from approximately year 1840-1860s. Soon after that, Japan started sending their artists to study glass making technique to all over Europe, which includes Venice (Murano Glass), Czech (Bohemian), French, and England. The making of Japanese crystal in the next period started in early 1920s, which its techniques and styles were influenced by the Europeans.
