A small city on the northern coast of central Java, Pekalongan was known for the batik that could be worn by everybody without any restriction to caste. Located by the port, Pekalongan has an interesting mixture of Dutch, Chinese, Arab, Gujarati, and Javanese.
This Batik tulis from Pekalongan is made after the influence of Japanese occupation. The colors are almost similar to Hokokai; orange or peach, vivid cyan, and bright purple, with Pagi-Sore type of motif - two motifs in one.
