An exquisite beauty of a charming and complex work of art! This Selendang is a charming and rare hand-sewn embroidery of Minangkabau’s embroidery technique, Sulam Kapalo Samek.

Kapalo Samek is one of the embroidery techniques from Koto Gadang, West Sumatra. This technique is developed in this region and heavily influenced by the Chinese embroidery technique, Peking Knot. This seed-stitch embroidery knot is developed throughout Asia from China. From Shandong province where it’s called Dazi, to Koto Gadang where it’s called Kapalo Samek.
