From the mountainous region of south Flores called Ndona, a fine Endenese style of Ikat is made. Ndona Flores is a very fine Ikat with such details refinement inspired by Patola textile of India. This influence of Patola was said to be brought by Bhene Ladja, an aristocratic woman, who developed the former simple Ndona ikat into a sophisticated one that is now well known as Ndona’s signature.
Ndona’s ikat features deep and various shades of red, a result from complex dyeing and redyeing process. Our discovery here is a Selendang curated from Ndona region, Flores.
